TRAUMA • CLINICAL DEPTH • REAL SUPPORT

Alexis Pena, Mental Health Counseling, PLLC

I’m a trauma therapist with a grounded, direct approach. I love supporting both therapy clients and clinicians navigating challenging cases. I am here to be an ally with you and explore the best options to best meet your needs.

What I believe about trauma work

Trauma doesn’t respond to pressure. It responds to safety, honesty, and consistency.

I’m not interested in quick fixes or performative healing. I care about longitudinal change. We will build this slowly with structure and clarity, and a therapeutic relationship that can hold what’s true.

Alexis Pena, Mental Health Counseling, PLLC

I’m Alexis Pena, a licensed trauma therapist with over a decade of behavioral health experience across outpatient, inpatient, and community-based settings.

We all have a story. It may not come as a surprise that mine has something to do with my career choice. I take my recovery very seriously, and prioritize my nervous system and overall well-being so we can keep the priority on you. Therapy is undoubtably relational; if knowing parts of my story can support you, I am incredibly open as much as it will benefit your healing.

My specialties are: complex trauma (chronic/childhood), substance use, and chronic pain/illness. My passion also lies in supporting therapists who want skilled consultation for challenging cases.

Trauma processing depends greatly on co-regulation and mirroring skills in session, so you’ll be seeing a lot of that around here.

My approach is direct, grounded, and deeply human.

My approach

My work extends beyond talk therapy. I use EMDR and IFS–informed approaches. I pay attention to your whole experience, getting curious about the totality of you beyond just your mental health. I prioritize recovery beyond symptom management, working with transparency and directness. This is careful, collaborative work. You’ll always understand what we’re doing and why.

A note on fit

This is a values-based fit. My work is steady, direct, and grounded in respect for co-occurring presentations. I’m not a “quick fix” or short-term therapist. If you’re looking for a space that can hold nuance, authenticity, and depth, without pressure or performance, you’ll likely feel comfortable here. This work asks for curiosity, patience, and a willingness to stay present in the room.
